So this is what happens when I study about RNA becoming mRNA...ABSOLUTE CRAP.....!

THis is a dedication to Olli because he made a short film about lab rats with tits on their backs in the first year!

The reason why I remembered it is because in my Engineering course everybody speaks about Mammalian Cells and it is just the other day that I realised that they DIDNT mean Mammary Cells...as in from the breast!!! They simply mean Cells from Mammals; silly me!!!

Hi There! This is some work I did over the Summer using Photoshop aiming for the 50s kinda look:

I don't like the color of the grass anymore, I'd now like it a deeper darker old green, not to mention a more solid texture. I also think the texture of the foreground tree crowns is too messy.
Initially it was supposed to be a long picture, where u can see underground that the sapling is taking its juice from an old TV burried underneath. I never came round to finishing that version, but have a look:

Ok, don't mean to keep anyone waiting, so here is a screenshot of the final blendshapes on the smoothed head. Isn't it like MAGIC!?!?

So now I'm off to skin him and paint weights and color him in. Wish me luck!

At the moment I'm working on a CG lipsync project to add onto my showreel to boost my opportunities in becoming a character animator.

Here is 1 of 2 characters, a guy named Steve. It will all make sense as I keep posting!
This is the transition from original sketch concepts to the final model:

I had a lot of fun drawing the face expressions that I thought this person should be doing. It's alien and a real thrill.

Then I made a SuperSculpey model to feel the shapes that I want to translate from drawing onto CG:

and drew topologies over the top till I found one I thought I could work with:

And here is the final product.
I'd like it more cartoony and chunky, but I tend to lean towards realism. Still, I'm quite happy to work with this for this animation:

Ok, here is more of these watercolor circus animals. I actually wanted them to all be sort of weird-cute but when I drew the horse he just didn't go cute, just sort of weird!

I wanted to color it in so it looked sort of 19th century pompous and flamboyant and then remembered Marilyn Manson's art.
I overdid the colors and so killed the horse's little podium and flattened the horse's colors too. I thought an environment for the horse would be nice but NO ...NOT NICE :( ! Whaddayathink?

The 2 and a 1/2 D Elephunt that could never be animated:

A Nelly F. CD cover I made for my swish (my sister). This is a 2am creation; you'll soon discover that most my art created at 2am is rather strange.
And NO Nelly is not wearing blue knickers under that bear suit and did NOT wee herself!! Some mistakes on the face shading but I paint and learn, eh!?

My first rather embarrassing attempt at Photoshop. The background is totally inappropriate in style. BTW this is a concept for my current film No Title (havent thought of a title yet) for which I'm currently preparing a blog to keep you updated with the currency of something GO AWAY:

Random pencil animation I did about a month and a bit ago. I just wanted to do something cartoony and bouncy and I wanted to animate a parachute catch like in JohnK's Old Navy Jean hoody advert.

Hello Hello Everybody!!!
I'm in a wonderful mood!
As the Title says, this is the last of my focused cartoon practices. I went page by page through the How to draw the looney Tunes book. It was brilliant and i learnt a lot. I felt i needed to learn cartoon drawing better because i come from a fine art background. I want to expand my technical skills in drawing and go onto "the next level". I want to draw fluid and confidently without being scared of making a mistake or not really knowing where my line is going to go.
Also, I'm exhausted of drawing Bugs and toons! I don't want to be influenced too much.
here goes...

hi Guys,
At the moment I'm practicing loads of drawing. I wana be really good, I wana churn out good drawings just like that, so when I come to storyboarding or animation I can draw at any angle and with nice and consistend lines and not to mention consisten proportions. On that enthusiastic note it probably wouldn't be smart of me to tell you that I missed my life drawing class last night.......I just forgot!

I decided drawing Disney stuff was a good idea, because their lines look like the artists drew quick and with confidence and the drawings are flawless. I want that. And it's beyond me how to draw Disney-woman-heads. And Disney-eyes are a whole other problem that I just can't grasp. HOW do they do it???? So I'll start with one of my proudest sketches. YES it's the little mermaid and YES I LOVE IT!

here are some more of these terrible Bugs drawings that I do. Any pointers?

This is more cartoon stuff. I really don't like the centaur's head, I don't like it at all.

I really like this drawing. Not because it's amazingly solid or anything, but because I think it has attitude. Something I do very rarely:

Hi Guys
It's been a while.
In the meantime I've graduated from Uni with a BA in Animation. I've had a hell of a year, but let's not go into that now! My God, I get so furious just thinking about it.

ANYWAY
Now that I have my time back I'm back on practicing becoming better. By next year I have to make confident lines and draw every body part with confidence! YES!!

When i was a kid i decided i needed to draw better before tyring to draw cartoons. That was about 10 years ago and i spent my time trying to get better by doing life drawing and mostly focusing on fine art stuff and realism things. Now i sorta feel more ready to draw cartoons because i have a nicer line that 10 years ago. Lucky for me, Lesson one is right on time. Still tho, gotta admit, i woulda thought 10 years practice through avoidance wouldve made me better:D!
Also I'm graduating in 2 months, it's very hard to keep track of everything at the moment, so sorry for the mess.

Haven't been posting much lately, I've been animating like a cow in grazing frenzy. It's a bit scary because it's me and one other person animating around 4 minutes of film in less than two months. Majority of the things being animated i've never done before, hence the time scare!

Anyway:

It's preparation time:
that means more inventing, creating and planning!

As to the Drawing. I've taken a break
As to the showreel, I'm preparing or in the process of coming up with new things my character could be doing. In the meanwhile, ie. Today, I've started animating his runcycle, becuase it doesn't require any inventing or creating, just planning (timing, poses). I don't wana waste any time ya see? I get bored with nothing to do....
So I've come Up with some 2D stuff formyself to do. I usually do just rough animations, but I have an idea I really wanna finlise. It's still in the creating part, I'm trying to come up with cartoony designs that depict the ditsyness of a Sinai sheep without going all Looney. It's a challenge, esp since I'm not the greatest character designer around, so it'll take a while before that comes online.
Ja, and then there's the group project. The pre production is about to wrap up and take off so the last week is more intense. Im actually an animator for the group, though have also been doing some concept/ mood boards/ organizing etc. It's good working in a group, we motivate eachother and I'm lucky to be working with some great artists and creators. They all oughta have BLOGS :D

ANyway, so to fill the mean time, here's some o'those mood boards. The stills were made by

February Finale

HEHEH!!! First off, I'm having a crap day! So here's my nameless hermit crab to cheer me up!! Ya know, I like scanning in my drawings because it shows if I shaded them right and then it also lets me look at them in a different way. Sometimes I scan pictures in to post on this blog only to realize taht they really suck. Like the Brad Picture down there, he looks like a wonky eyed dog.

Another thing is I've been roaming these blogs for weeks now and I've grown incapable of telling whether a drawing is good or not. Like trying too many perfumes in a perfume store. In the end you know nothing. However, I have found more drawings of mine which are just plain wrong. Embarrassingly off actually. I'm sure there's more but I guess I don't see my other mistakes yet.....at least not until I get a bit better again.

Usually it's very unlike me to be drawing other people's styles, but I'm intrugued and I do, however, copy drawings once or twice or however many times it takes for me to make a satisfactory replica. It's just a thing I do, just for me to know that if I really had to, I could draw/ animate this character. With the american cartoony thing I'm having trouble though, because even though they are so simplistic, they are still 3dimensional characters with 3D faces. And that's why I'm drawing so many faces nowadays: So I can get the proportions right and get the depth right too. When I animate, I usually do action, but I don't think I've ever animated acting: I just dread having to animate a person's head turning around. And since I only like doing things once (I'm extremely lazy) I haven't dared to animated it yet, because I know I'll get it wrong at least the first 4 times, which doesn't make me happy at all:(:(:(!!! I NEED TO STOP BEING SUCH A GADDAMN LAZY PERFECTIONIST!!!

Anyway, here are a few more cartoony chicks. I belive this is the end of cartoony chicks for me, I need to put more time into real faces and animation, so it'll have to be for another time:

The girl on the right is a kind of me person. Yes wonky shoulders wonky shoulders..... The only one I actually like is the middle one.. As you can see I prefer the Betty Boop type style.

Ok, I've finally given in> BelOw is a page from my storyboard that I've done a month ago or so. This movie ain't gonna be made for a while though I'd love to make it oneday.

This is work I've scanned in from my sketchbook.

I'm currently trying to do the american cartoon thing, I like 'em.
I also do Charicatures, becayse there are no rules and I just get to draw what I see. I recently got into this, so bear with me.

This is a kind of Bugs Bunny character, but I didn't wana draw Bugs. I actually hate bugs, he's way too arrogant, so my bunny is kind of ditsy/ retarded, but smarter than he looks. I wanted to draw a Bugs like character, because they have such a nice line of Action and curvey simple lines, especially for hands.

So this is me trying to use pens to color in a cartoon. I usually use oil or colored pencils and sometimes aquarelle pencils. I guess I should stick to my medium eh>? well, at least he LOOKS like he was deprived of sun!

OK, here are some charicatures I'm fairly happy with> would be nice to know if you can guess em?

Hi All! Im Back! The past few months I've spent making a storyboard and concepts etc for my film for my final year at College. The project fell through though for several reasons. Nonetheless, I wanted to post the work I'd put into. It's set in a Circus tent and is basically about the love between the circus's clown and dancer of which the Director didn't approve.

Below are concepts I drew for the Director of the Circus:

Funny Enough, the main character, the Clown, is the one character I drew most and have the least scans of. However, I'm making a 3D animation Showreel with this Clown, so I will post work of him up eventually. Here's on off my storyboard.

Hi Everyone!!
This is my first BLog EVER, so I dont really know what I'm doing. Don't have the right card to make my own website. so Im gonna blog in the meanwhile. I just want to show my art, but theyre so random i don't know how to put them in a category. I'll just explain as I go along.

To start off, here are some of my own creations:

Below is my alien freak. He used to always frown, so this is the first time hes smiling.

And this guy is a bussinessman. This was my first experience of someone stealing my idea. B***! So maybe these blogs arent such a good idea after all. I'd love to hear some thoughts on this if anyones had similar experience:

I can't believe Im the first to come up with this idea, There must be more out there, so if anyone knows of more, Id love to see what other sick designs people have come up with.

This here is a kitty kat, it flies, and this is where theyre in abundance!

This guy here is my psychologist. No, not really, Hes the pope man from Northern Lights by Phillip Pullman. Remember? hes interoggating the scientist with the bunny, but i cut him out of the picture.

And this here was inspired by Jimminy Cricket. He's got this big round head, that it made sense to give him a big round butt and an ever bigger rounder pregnant gutt. YESSSS its Mrs Jimminy Cricket.

Last and least, this is a good ole painting (oil) i made for highschool finished xmas 2002, it took me a year n a half that poo (because its 2 x 1.2 meters)! I dont like it much anymore, i prefer to only look at the lower half.
